The Institute for Media, Policy and Civil Society: Poll Results
A full 82% of BCers support stopping the expansion of fish farms across all groups
The opposition to fish farms is growing. There was another terrible outbreak of sea lice in the Broughton Archipelago May 2004. People all across BC are finding out about the dangers of fishfarms. The experience in the Broughton is making them take a look at the experience in Europe and it is scaring them. We want to welcome industry but not this one. This poll shows just how much BCers care about their wild salmon.
The Institute for Media, Policy and Civil Society had a poll done by Strategic Communications in November 2004 across BC.
The question was:
"Can you tell me whether you support or oppose the following policies in BC? Stopping the expansion of industrial fishfarms. - Would that be strongly support/oppose?
The answer was:
55% strongly support - 27% support - 9% somewhat oppose - 5% strongly oppose and - 4% don't know/refused
Key Points:
Fish farms- a full 82% of BCers support stopping the expansion of fish farms across all groups
